Board Elections & Appointments
Any DBIA member can run for the Board of Management. The 2026 election was held June 10 at the Annual General Meeting; the new four-year term begins December 14, 2026, subject to Council approval.
The 4-Year Election Cycle
Because the DBIA is a local board of the municipality, board terms run four years, with a two-term limit for all members. Elections are a self-nomination process — any DBIA member can run.
The 2026 cycle: nominations closed June 2, members voted at the June 10 AGM, and the incoming board takes office December 14, 2026, subject to City Council approval.
How the 2026 Election Worked
Self-Nomination
Any DBIA member could nominate themselves by completing the nomination form — available from the DBIA office — with a deadline of June 2, 2026. In-person submissions were coordinated with the City’s Commissioner of Infrastructure & Planning Services.
Election Night at the AGM
Nominees joined the ballot and members voted in person at the Annual General Meeting, held at Market Hall Performing Arts Centre from 5–6 PM. Candidates had the opportunity to speak and introduce themselves.
Council Approval
Election results are forwarded to City Council, which formally appoints the elected board members.
New Term Begins
The 2026–2030 board term begins December 14, 2026, subject to Council approval. Terms are four years with a two-term limit.
