Accessibility
Last reviewed: October 9, 2026
This page explains how the Peterborough Downtown Business Improvement Area (DBIA) makes its information and services accessible, and how to ask for what you need.
Our commitment
The DBIA is committed to treating people with disabilities in a way that respects their dignity and independence, and to giving everyone the same chance to use our services and take part in downtown life. We meet the requirements of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and our obligations under the Ontario Human Rights Code, and we work to remove and prevent barriers wherever we find them.
Accessible formats and communication supports
Everything on this website, and any document we provide, is available in an accessible format or with communication supports on request, at no extra cost. That includes our meeting agendas and minutes, financial statements, annual reports, and program and grant applications — for example as large print, an accessible PDF or Word file, a plain-text email, or a phone call where we go through a document with you.
We will talk with you about the format or support that works for you, and provide it in good time. If something cannot be converted, we will explain why and give you a summary of it.
To ask, contact us:
- Email: info@ptbodbia.ca
- Phone: 705-748-4774
- Online: our contact form
- In person or by mail: Venture North Building, 270 George Street N, Suite 202A, Peterborough, ON K9J 3H1
Our website
We are working to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 Level AA, the standard Ontario sets for websites, and we build to the newer WCAG 2.2 Level AA. We last reviewed this site on October 9, 2026, and we fix the issues we find.
If any part of the site is hard to use, tell us, and we will give you the information another way.
Visiting us in person
- Assistive devices. You are welcome to use your own assistive devices when you visit or work with us.
- Service animals. Service animals are welcome in the parts of our office open to the public.
- Support persons. You are welcome to bring a support person, at no charge, including to DBIA events and member meetings.
- Disruptions. If a service or facility people with disabilities rely on is unavailable, we will post a notice on this page and at our office, with the reason, how long we expect it to last, and what is available instead.
Feedback
We welcome feedback on how we serve people with disabilities. It helps us find barriers and fix them. You can reach us by:
- Email: info@ptbodbia.ca
- Phone: 705-748-4774
- The contact form: send us a message
Feedback goes to our office team. We will reply within two business days. We can take your feedback, and reply, in an accessible format or with communication supports on request.
