How to become a DBIA Board Member 

Any DBIA member can run for the DBIA Board of Management. Board elections are a self-nomination process. All potential board members must fill out a nomination form and coordinate a time to physically bring their nomination form into City Hall to the Commissioner of Infrastructure & Planning Services- Administrative Assistant, Carolyn Jobbitt. Nomination forms are available for download through the link below or by emailing the DBIA Executive Director, Nour Mazloum at nour@ptbodbia.ca

Election night details 

Once the nomination process is completed, nominees will be added to the election ballot. DBIA will host elections on June 10, 2026 in-person during the Annual General Meeting, at Market Hall Performing Arts Centre, between 5 and 6 pm. 

DBIA members who are running for the board will have an opportunity to speak at the AGM to introduce themselves and chat briefly about why they want to be on the DBIA Board of Management. After all nominees have spoken, DBIA staff members will start the voting process live at the AGM. Whoever wins a board seat will be formally notified by the DBIA the following day.

 

How long of a commitment is the DBIA Board term? 

Terms for the DBIA Board of Management are 4 years. The 2026 new board term will begin December 14, 2026, subject to Council approval. All Board members have a two-term limit.

 

What’s involved in joining the DBIA Board of Management? 

The DBIA board of management meets monthly to conduct board meetings with the exception of July, August, and December. Board members may also join DBIA subcommittees alongside their regular DBIA Board of Management duties.
